So I'm back in Texas and trying to start a writers group. Lots of people showed interest and responded wanting to know more and participate, yet no one will respond with their availablity. I am a person who hates to wait. Trying to get a response is like pulling teeth. I am a "get up and go" kind of person. If something needs to be done I do it. If I commit to something I put it on the front of my to do list. I make sure I get it done.
Throughout my childhood I had to listen to my parents, do chores, cook dinner, keep my room straightened. Now that I'm older I realize that those things helped form who I am today. If it wasn't for the discipline and accountability I probably would not be dependable, on time, responsible , etc. . . Today's youth are spoiled. I wish parents would stop enabling them. It does not do them justice. It just helps mold them into self centered adults that you now see everywhere. It's all about them, if it isn't they do not care nor bother feeling for others. There is no compassion or understanding or comradery. Picking up the slack where it's needed, whether at work or in the home. How can someone see somebody working and not offer to help? Who walks by trash in their own house and doesn't pick it up? Many children do not realize the strength and energy parents put in at work trying to support the family and children do nothing to make the parents feel appreciated. Not even just pick up after themselves. If everyone would just take care of themselves and their mess, or keep their promises that comes out of their own mouth, or even feel for another human being how nice could this world be? Would their be harmony? Peace? Humanity throughout the world? I'm sure stress would definately decrease all around. If everyone could take care of themselves and get thier life in order it would than be possible to lend a hand or support another. How can you help others when you don't even help yourself?
Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved. ~ Helen Keller

Focus, Determination and Drive
I haven't posted a blog in a few months now and to those in waiting I apologize. My world recently stood still for a moment, but now it's spinning again. My father suffered a heart attack while serving in Iraq just before Thanksgiving. I was living in California and had to relocate to Texas and be with family. He is healthy and well now (Thank God) and I have realized how little time we truly have here on Earth.
So I say now if there is something in life you want to enjoy or experience than make it happen! Stop watching TV, spending time surfing the net, wasting time on video games (I know World of Warcraft can suck you into a time warp) but you are wasting your time. Use your time to create for yourself a better future. If you're in school . . .study, you own a business. . . focus, you have a family, hobby, idea . . spend the time. My cousin (who is a Chiropractor) use to tell me "Work hard now, play harder later!" I realize the importance of that now and wish I had listened but that saying rings in my ears along with "Don't be lazy!" (I got that from my uncle Sam), "What are you waiting for?" (from good old dad) and
song lyrics by Kanye West that go like:
"Work it, make it, do it,
Makes us harder, better, faster, stronger!
[played in background, continuously:]
Work it harder, make it better,
do it faster, makes us stronger,
more than ever, never over,
Our work here is never over.
[Chorus:]
N- n- now th- that don't kill me
Can only make me stronger
I need you to hurry up now
'cause I can't wait much longer
I know I got to be right now
'cause I can't get much wronger
Man I've been waitin' all night now
That's how long I've been on you"
You know what I'm talking about. There's plenty you need to do (and I) so hop to it! I will be posting more often and will include you on my journey to becoming a Children's Book Author. "I am back in full attack!" (words from my deceased fiance, who was killed by a drunk driver in a drunk driving accident on 1/20/2002 R.I.P. my heart!)
"In this age, which believes that there is a short cut to everything, the greatest lesson to be learned is that the most difficult way is, in the long run, the easiest."
